EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP 2005 (Brussels)
European Championship
European Championships
On 25 June, the European Championships 2005 WABBA took place in the small town of Colchester near the English coast. Indeed, more than 100 athletes from 18 different countries had made an appointment for these championships highly anticipated by everyone. Despite the significant distances between Colchester many airports and train stations in London, everyone has managed to find its way to join the Holiday Inn where took place the inscriptions. It must be said that the organizers Scott Horton, Mike Wilson and Sharon had done the utmost to best facilitate such transport large group.
Entries athletes per category, which started on Friday around noon, also helped to dispatch the various teams in the 3 official hotels. Indeed, given the large number of participants, it was impossible to accommodate all the people taking part in the European Championship in a single hotel. However, each hotel was identical class and comfort and meals tailored to very strict regime of our athletes were available for each.
Saturday morning, the prejudging was able to begin classes for women. Miss Shape have opened the ball in a very gentle, alternating least two categories and more than 30 years. The Italian Barbara Buzo was imposed before the Finnish Jenni Levavaara in the category less than 30 years. Note, however, performance by Kristina Iankauskaite Lithuania finally ranked 4th, but captured the public by its extraordinary routine, falling more than contortionism that weight training itself. In the category of more than 30 years, is also an Italian who won the victory: Daniela Trevisiol.
The Miss Fitness then took possession of the stage. The category of less than 30 years was dominated by Russians and finally won by Ida Guschcha, while the finalist in the category over 30 years was also a Russian. Olga Scherbakova "flies" and the title of world champion in 2004 at the Italian Gabriella Giarratano, came in second. Odile Lupon, despite some health problems that hindered his regime, has still managed to win at the third place.
The 4 juniors under 21 years then came to show us what they were capable: Greek Panagiotis Flioris eventually won the duel he was with the Russian Eugeny Kondrashov, 2 other athletes that still has some way to go. But the booming category tells us that future generations of body builders are gearing up to not disappoint us in the years to come.
Then came the turn of the Masters (over 40) to show them to prove that their maturity does not change its physical form or the amazing performances they are capable. This category was finally won by the German Werner Hoh, followed closely by 1 point to the Belgian Dany Poumay.
For the 2nd consecutive European competition, French Pascal Mathurin won the title of Mister Fitness Europe after World Mr. Fitness 2004, thanks to a very specific muscle definition. To note the results of Cliff Niyssen arrived 4th this year, approaching each time the podium.
This was followed by small sizes, where it finalemet Russian Alexey Sebastianov who imposed himself on the French Christian Lacoche. The average class sizes, including no fewer than 22 athletes, was a unique moment of the show. He was obviously very difficult to separate these athletes and the judges did not know where to head between athletes French, English and Turkish particularly successful. It finally Philippe Foussard who won this victory, followed by English Luke Nicholls, strongly supported by his national audience. The large size category was dominated from start to finish by Jean-Marc Clair de Guadeloupe, which we had already found very promising in previous World Championships in India. His outstanding choreography on "Terminator", completely different from the usual posings allowed him to put the British public in his pocket, the public was therefore maintained at the finals in all categories on the same night. It is still important to take note of fair play shown by Juriy Gucan of Léthonie against Kwadwo Sapong Switzerland, the latter had felt ill on several occasions after the stage.
It s finally about 18:30 that the final could start with the presidents global WABBA Fabien Debecq. It wished to especially thank all the athletes and the people organizing the show: Mike Wilson, President English, his wife Sharon Wilson, and finally Scott Horton, vice president of WABBA English. All 3 have indeed spent a tremendous time and energy for a perfect organization of the European Championships in 2005, presenting music and incredible support. Unfortunately for them, the public was not expected to visit this incredible final where everything had been implemented for a total success, this is due to the fact that never before has a championship of this magnitude had been born in England, and Mike Wilson took over as president he UK is just over a year! We are confident that the next competition in England will beat attendance records.
The two finals were female Shape and Fitness for one Italian and one Russian, but all won by the two winners in the under 30 years: Barbara Buso in Shape and Miss Ida Guschcha in Miss Fitness. The winners for small, medium and large sizes were then confronted to obtain the title of European Champion 2005 in all categories. Thanks to its exceptional physical condition, Jean-Marc Clair won the final handily, giving him the opportunity to compete for the first time as a professional.
The grand prix career that followed was an incredible level, it specially for the winner of Vitaliy Aleksandrovs Léthonie, which showed an incredibly hard muscle density and an increased muscular definition. Delighted and surprised at the time, Jean-Marc Clair meanwhile won the second place!
This incredible feast ended at the Holiday Inn in Colchester where we expected a buffet closing. Everyone was finally able to enjoy it as his hunger and cravings, while forgetting the hardships and efforts in recent weeks ... until the next championship! The latter (2005 World Championships) will be held in late November 2005 in Las Palmas in the Canary Islands: we hope you will see very many.
